Adolescents’ Personalities, Ego-Resilience, and School Adjustment

The purpose of this study was to examine effects of personalities and ego-resilience on adolescents’ school adjustment according to their gender. Subjects of this study consisted of 952 middle school students who was attending ten middle school in Chungbuk province. Data were analyzed by hierarchial regression using SPSS 12.0 program. The results of this study were as follows: First, adolescents’ personalities were the strongest predictor of male students’ class adjustment for academic subjects and ego-resilience was the most important factor for their adjustment to school friends. Second, personalities were the strongest predictor of female students’ adjustment to their teachers and school friends and ego-resilience was the most important factor for their class adjustment for academic subjects and school rules.
