Blended-learning Models in the Elementary English Education: Applications and their Effects

The current study examines the effects of blended learning models in the elementary English classes. For this study, three groups with similar achievement level from two elementary schools in Incheon were chosen; Group A had been provided both on-line courses and on- and offline connection activities, while Group B had been provided on-line courses only without on- and offline connection activities. Group C was the control group. The results show that the two blended learning models significantly improved the learners’ academic achievement and had positive effects on the affective domain except self-esteem. Especially, the blended learning model with on- and offline connection activities showed positive effects on learner’s academic performance in the intermediate and the low level students.
