수업분석을 통한 초등영어 예비교사들의 영어 수업에 대한 교육적 안목 발달에 대한 연구

A study on the development of pre-service elementary teachers’ educational connoisseurship on English teaching through class analysis

This study aims to investigate how pre-service elementary teachers develop their educational connoisseurship on English teaching through course work, microteaching and practicum. Fifty pre-service teachers participated in the study. Fifty student teachers watched and analyzed the same video-taped English class at three different times over one semester using the form provided. The data were analyzed both quantitatively and qualitatively to see any differences in their educational connoisseurship development. The results showed that at the first analysis before teaching practice, the student teachers focused on features such as the teacher’s English fluency, teaching material, students’ participation. However, at the final analysis of the video-taped English class after having teaching experience, they seemed to develop their educational connoisseurship including features such as teacher-student interaction, students’ different English abilities, the sources of teaching materials, and the goal achievement in their comments. The qualitative data analysis revealed that the pre-service teachers learned what to look at when they analyze the English class and applied what they learned through the analysis to their own English teaching practice. It is suggested that analyzing video-taped English classes can be a viable approach to developing teachers’ educational connoisseurship in pre-service education programs.
