글로벌 사회의 시민성 교육 접근 방법

Approaches to Citizenship Education in Global Society

시간과 공간에 대한 오랜 관념이 무너지고 국가 간 경계가 상대적으로 해체되며 상호의존성이 심화되는 오늘날 글로벌 시민성 교육에 대한 관심과 요구가 높아지고 있다. 글로벌 상호작용이 증가할수록 지역적·지구적 연결망은 더욱 복잡하고 견고하게 구성되고 이는 다시 글로벌화를 촉진·심화시키며 우리 삶의 모든 영역에 영향을 미친다. 오늘날 우리는 테러, 빈곤, 인권, 개발, 자원, 환경 등 개별 국가 수준으로는 해결할 수 없는 초국가적 과제들에 직면하고 있다. 글로벌 시민은 전지구적 차원에서 인간의 존엄성, 기본권을 비롯하여 복지, 환경, 자원 등에 이르기까지 글로벌 이슈에 능동적으로 관여할 수 있는 책임감 있고 윤리적인 시민이다. 이 글에서는 근대 사회의 전통적 질서와 구성이 해체되는 가운데 개별 주체들의 정체성이 어떻게 변화하고 있는지, 글로벌 사회에 필요한 글로벌 시민성이란 무엇인지, 그리고 학습자들에게 글로벌 시민성을 획득시키기 위해 어떠한 방법적 접근을 취할 것인지를 고찰해 볼 것이다. 문화, 종족, 언어, 종교 등의 다양성을 갖고 있는 글로벌 사회에서 특수성과 보편성의 균형을 조화롭게 추구할 수 있는 글로벌 시민을 길러내기 위한 교육적 노력이 절실하다고 할 수 있다.

The idea for time and space has been collapsed and the boundaries between countries have relatively been dismantled while interdependence is being intensified. Interest and demand for global citizenship education are increasing today. The more severe global interdependence is, the more complicated and firmer regional and global connection is. It accelerates globalization and has an effect on our whole lives. We’re facing the transnational challenges including terrorism, poverty, human rights, development, resources and environment which can not be solved by the level of individual countries. Global citizens are responsible and ethical citizens who can be actively involved in the global issues of human dignity, the environment, resources and fundamental rights and welfare. The aims of this study are to investigate how individual identity changes while the traditional rules of modern society and the configuration are being decomposed, what is needed for global citizenship in global society and how approach to be a global citizenship for learner. The educational effort needs to foster global citizens so that the global citizens can be harmony with balance of particularity and universality in a global society that has the diversity of culture, race, language and religion.
