A Review of the Transformation of Early Childhood Education Based on Relationship Focusing on the Action Research through Learning Community : Its Journey and Practices

This paper reviews the practices of the learning communities which have participated in the action research(Kim, 2001, 2004) for transformation of early childhood education. A review of the reality of the childhood education from the critical and the post-modern perspectives demands a transformation of the education based on the relationship between children, teachers, parents and local communities to meet the social needs of the present era. This work has proposed the rationale for the transformation of the early childhood education; why it should be changed in what aspects. The paper has also analyzed the practices of the transformation performed by the teachers and the learning communities by highlighting their past journey. Finally, it has pointed out some remaining challenging tasks in order to extend the transformation. formation.
