유아의 기질과 놀이행동 유형 및 사회적 능력의 관계에 관한 연구

A study of the relationships among child's temperament, play behavior, and social competence

본 연구는 유아들의 개인적 특성을 이해할 수 있는 수단으로써 기질과 놀이행동, 그리고 사회적 능력사이에는 어떤 관계가 있는지 알아보는 것으로 만 5세 남아 14명, 여아 14명씩의 유아들을 대상으로 하였다. 본 연구의 결과 첫째, 유아의 기질, 놀이행동유형, 사회적 능력 간의 관계에서는 유아의 기질은 놀이행동 유형 중 인지적 놀이행동보다는 사회적 놀이행동과 높은 상관을 보였으며, 사회적 능력과는 전반적으로 정적 또는 부적으로 높은 상관을 보였다. 또한, 유아의 사회적 능력과 놀이행동유형은 부분적으로 상관을 보였다. 둘째, 유아의 기질 상·하 집단에 따른 놀이행동 유형 및 사회적 능력의 차이에서는, 유아의 기질은 사회적 능력에서 전반적으로 집단 간에 높은 유의미한 차이를 보였으나, 놀이행동 유형에서는 유아의 기질 중 정서성과 달랠 수 있는 정도 기질만이 집단 간에 부분적으로 유의미한 차이를 보였다.

This research shows links between children’s temperament, play behavior and social competence in order to understand child's personal characteristics. Data were derived from observations of 14 male and 14 female children who are 5 year old. Results include the followings. First, children's temperament is more associated with social play behavior than with cognitive play behavior and it is profoundly correlated with social competence. In addition, there is partial relation between children's social competence and types of play behavior. Second, there are significant differences in social competence according to children’s temperament. However, in the types of play behavior according to children’s temperament, there are meaningful differences partially in emotionality and the level of temperament that children could soothe their peers.
