하종오의 시 세계에 나타난 다문화성과 그 인식의 한계

The Multi-culturalism Aspects in Ha Jong-Oh's Poetry and limitation of his Recognition

본고는 다문화주의로 나아가지 못하고 여전히 다문화성이라는 사회적 현상 그 자체에 갇혀 있는 한국 내 다문화를 하종오의 시 작품을 통해 확인하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 하종오의 시가 다루고 있는 다문화성을 비판적으로 고찰하는 것은 다문화사회로의 이행에 대한 왜곡된 시선과 그 인식의 한계를 점검하는 데 밑거름이 될 수 있을 것이다. 하종오는 이주·이민자들의 삶을 불행과 부정의 영역 속에 묶어둔다. 즉 다문화적 사실로부터 야기되는 내부적인 현상을 부정이라는 단일한 시각으로 형상화하고 있는 것이다. 그들을 향한 폭력의 시선은 시 바깥에서만 발생하는 것이 아니다. 하종오는 시 바깥 세계에서 이루어지는 폭력을 시 안으로 들여옴으로써 독자들의 고정된 시선을 더욱 견고하게 한다. 이는 이미 디아스포라적인 존재가 되어 사회 주변부에 머무는 그들의 가능성을 제거한다는 데서 본고에서 비판의 지점에 놓인다.

Purpose of this thesis is understanding how Korean society, which is going on multi-society, accepts and recognizes multi-culturalism by critically analyzing the poems of Ha Jong-oh. Assuming that multi-culturalism is the internal-society phenomena which is caused by the sociological event-variety of cultural, racial, religious mixing. In this case, we can explain the migrate's behavior and its aspects in Ha's literary work by the theory of multi-culturalism. Ha's literary works describe migrated people's life as misfortune and denial. In his work, their life is composed by poverty, misfortune, scar and regret. It means, complicated multi-cultural problems are only dealt with irregularity. The violent gaze on the migrates are not only from outside of the literature, but also from the inside of the literature itself. Ha just describes the violence directly in his work, and it makes readers to stay their gaze still. Though Ha exposes misfortune of the migrates to our society that makes readers to confront the ugly truth for regret, there are too much misfortune stories involved with the migrates. it is not able to find a novelty with this approach. Thus, more study is needed on Ha's purpose of such kinds of gaze. In addition to this, multi-culturalism should be expanded by unveiling the shades of prejudice on the migrates.
