The Effect of International Distance Learning on University-level English Language Education in Korea

This study aims to introduce international distance learning as a new lesson model in English language teaching context, and to prove that this distance learning model is effective in cultivating the motivation and interest of EFL learners in Japanese and Korean universities. For the purpose of this study, the data has been collected from students of A university which has participated in this distance learning program with B university in Japan from 2005 until the present. The results from the students’ responses through the questionnaire provide significant implications for the effectiveness of distance learning in cultivating the motivation and interest of EFL learners in Korean university, and also for the effectiveness of non-native speakers’ interaction in learning English as a foreign language in ‘Expanding Circle’ countries.
