The purpose of this study is to explore the perceptions of parents toward native English teachers and the policy on these teachers. The study collected 145 surveys from parents across stratified areas of Korea and different levels of schools. The parents participated in this research to show their opinions towards native English teachers and policies. This research was carried out from May of 2010 to April of 2012 with the grant of MEST (Ministry of Education, Science, and Education). The questionnaires on perception consisted of four categories: native English teachers, their classes, their communicative skills and friendliness toward students, and the policy on native English teachers. The result shows that middle school parents were most positive in all categories. Parents in rural areas were highly satisfied in three categories except native English teachers’ friendliness toward students. The study suggests that the current decrease of native English teachers should be well-planned in such a way that the reduction should be made from high schools in city areas first, move gradually on toward rural areas, and then from middle schools in city areas to rural areas.
