A Comparative Study of Korean and Japanese Wedding Hairstyles -Focusing on wedding hairstyles from 2003 to 2011-

In this study, SPSS was used to compare the characteristics and formative beauty of Korean and Japanese wedding hairstyles from 2003 to 2011. Frist, regarding the characteristics of wedding hairstyles in Korea, the Chignon was observed in up-dos. In Japan, on the contrary, the Chignon, medium length, long hair, un-parted, wave fringe, natural bangs, bright and light color. when wedding hairstyles were compared between the two countries, significant difference was observed in hair length (up/open), wave, fringe, color, quality, complete/semi ear cover or exposure, location of Chignon, wedding headgear and parting (up). In terms of parting (open), no significant difference was detected. Second, in terms of the image of Korean and Japanese wedding hairstyles, classic image was preferred with significant difference (χ2=62.271, p<.001). Third, in terms of wedding hairstyles by type, the classic Chignon, with its elegant and refined image, was detected in Korea. In Japan, the classic Chignon was also used.
