Prefixing as a tool for the creation of legal terms in Korean: aspects of translation into Russian and Ukrainian

법률용어 파생 수단으로서의 한국어 접두사화: 러시아어와 우크라이나어 번역을 중심으로

본 논문은 한국어에서 접두사 첨가를 통한 법률용어 파생 수단들의 분석과 접두사들을 성분으로 가지고 있는 전문용어를 러시아어와 우크라이나어로 어떻게 번역할 것인가 하는 문제를 다루고 있다. 앞서 말한 이러한 표현 수단들은 파생어에 다양한 의미를 부여하는 것이다. 한국어 법률용어들이 대부분이 한자어이기 때문에 한국어에 존재하는 한자어접두사만을 본 논문에서 연구 대상으로 삼았다. 유감스럽게도 현존하는 한-러, 한-우 사전들은 접두사 조어 방식을 통한 법률용어에 대한 명확한 정의를 내리지 못하고 있고, 설령 수록되어 있는 어휘들도 그 접두사가 쓰인 전문용어의 의미를 전적으로 반영하지 못하고 있다. 본고에서는 이러한 공백을 메우고자 하는 시도와 동시에 해당하는 한국어 법률용어들의 러시아어와 우크라이나어로 적절한 번역의 가이드 라인을 제시하고 있다. 13개의 접두사가 첨가하는 각 13개 파생패턴별로 92개의 어휘의 의미구조를 분석하여 번역을 제시하였다.

The paper considers the means of prefixing as a way to create legal terms in Korean language and suggests the translation of derivates into Russian and Ukrainian. As a first step, a brief look at prefix definitions in Korean language, namely in its Sino-Korean lexicon, was taken. Then the definition of so-called ‘terminological’ prefixes was considered in the paper. After that, based on these criteria, the legal terminology of Korean language was analyzed to select those units which have been derived with the help of Sino-Korean ‘terminological’ prefixes. The paper aims to give a proper translation to the corresponding terms into the target languages. This is stipulated by the needs of inter-cultural communication and growing Korean-Russian and Korean-Ukrainian contacts. Unfortunately, the existing Korean-Russian and Korean-Ukrainian dictionaries do not provide the translation of the units in focus. Thus, in order to fill this gap this article suggests an analysis of 13 word-building patterns in the Korean language. As a result, the structure of 92 derived terms was studied and their suitable translations into Russian and Ukrainian languages were suggested.
