지적장애 형제에 대한 청소년기 비장애 형제들의 경험

Experiences of Non-Disabled Adolescents About Their Siblings with Intellectual Disabilities

본 연구에서는 지적장애 형제와의 경험을 살펴보기 위한 목적으로, A시의 장애인 기관 및 시설을 이용하고 있는 지적장애 형제를 둔 청소년기 비장애 형제 9명을 대상으로 Van Kaam의 현상학적 질적연구방법을 사용하여 살펴보았다. 그 결과, 가족으로서의 원망과 죄책감, 장애로 인한 부담과 두려움, 사회구성원으로서의 어려움과 분노 그리고 장애의 수용과 가족의 사랑 등의 범주순으로 경험하고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구의 실천적 함의는 청소년기 비장애 형제들을 대상으로 지적장애 형제와의 경험을 질적연구를 통해 범주별로 묶고 우선순위를 제시했다는 점과 청소년기 비장애 형제들의 부모에 대한 욕구를 파악했다는 점 그리고 청소년기 비장애 형제들의 긍정적인 측면과 변화를 확인했다는 점에서 찾을 수 있다. 또한 본 연구의 결과가 지적장애 형제를 둔 청소년기 비장애 형제들을 위한 다양한 프로그램의 개발 및 방향설정에 있어서 기초자료로 활용되기를 바라며, 본 연구의 결과를 중심으로 부모나 가족들이 참여하거나 주도하는 지적장애 형제를 둔 청소년기 비장애 형제들을 위한 프로그램, 비장애 자녀와 그들의 욕구에 초점을 맞춘 부모교육 프로그램 등을 제언하였다.

The aim of this paper is to analyze experiences with their siblings with intellectual disabilities, using Van Kaam's phenomenological qualitative study method, targeted at 9 nondisabled adolescents who have siblings with intellectual disabilities that are using institutions and facilities for the disabled in A city, In consequence, they were to experience according to the following categories in order: blame and guilt as family members, burden and fear because of disabilities, difficulties and anger as social members and to accept disabilities and the love of family members. This study provides practical implications, by classifying experiences of non-disabled adolescents with siblings with intellectual disabilities into each category through a phenomenological qualitative study to suggest a priority, understanding desires of non-disabled siblings about their parents and identifying positive aspects and changes of non-disabled siblings. Moreover, it is expected that the results of this study can be used as basic data for direction set-up and development of various programs for non-disabled adolescents with siblings with intellectual disabilities. In conclusion, this study proposed a program for non-disabled adolescents with siblings with intellectual disabilities that disabilities parents or family members join or lead, and a parent education program which focuses on non-disabled children and their desires.
