전통공예 기술과 관련된 국내 특허동향 분석

Analysis of Domestic Patent for Korean Craft Technology

본 연구는 나전칠기, 한지, 천연염색 공예 분야를 중심으로 전통공예 기술과 관련된 국내 특허 출원 동향을 분석하여, 우리나라의 전통공예의 발전방향을 제시하고자 하였다. 나전칠기, 한지, 천연염색 등 세 전통공예 분야의 특허출원건수는 나전칠기, 천연염색, 한지 순서로 많은 것으로 나타났다. 나전칠기, 한지 및 천연염색의 세 분야 모두 개인출원 건수가 많았으며, 특히 한지와 나전칠기분야는 85% 및 89%가 개인 출원으로 기업 및 대학이나 국공립 연구기관의 출원은 아주 미미한 것으로 나타났다. 특허 등록률은 천연염색, 한지, 나전칠기의 순서로 높은 것으로 나타났다. 특허 포트폴리오로 분석한 분야별 출원 동향을 분석한 결과, 나전칠기 분야의 경우는 발전기에서 성숙기로 전환하는 시점이고. 한지와 천연염색은 발전기에 있는 것으로 나타났다. 결론적으로 나전칠기 공예 산업이 성숙기를 거쳐 쇠퇴기로 진입되는 것을 막고 한지나 천연염색 공예 산업이 지속적으로 발전기를 유지하기 위해서는 새로운 기업 및 연구 개발자가 계속 늘어나 관련 기술의 개발이 활성화되고 산업이 성장할 수 있도록 이들 공예분야에 대한 정책적인 지원이 필요한 것으로 생각된다.

This study analyzed patent applications’ trend associated with traditional craft techniques based on najeon lacquerware, Hanji-traditional Korean paper, and natural dyeing in order to propose a direction of development of traditional craft. Among the number of patent applications of three traditional craft including Lacquerware, Hanji, and natural dyes, 208 cases were related to lacquerware, 157 cases for natural dyes and the lowest was Hanji with 140 cases. Lacquerware, Hanji and natural dyes, all three fields had high number of personal patent applications, especially in Hanji and lacquerware where personal patent application made up 85% and 89% of total number of applications in their fields, showing that applications from companies, universities and/or national and public research institutes small in number. Patent enrollment of natural dye was the highest, followed by that of Hanji, and lacquerware. After analyzing analysis of portfolio of patent application trend of each field, lacquerware field was in transformation phase between developmental and maturity stages, whereas Hanji and natural dyes’ fields were in developmental phase. Consequently. in order to prevent lacquerware craft industry to enter atrophy phase, and for Hanji and natural dye industry to continue to maintain developmental period, political support for these crafting fields is necessary so that new businesses and research developer can continue to increase in number, activating development of related technologies helping the growth of the industry.
