The pros and cons exist in having native English teachers (NET) in Korean English classrooms. Seoul, Gyeonggi and Gangwon Offices of Education officially announced that they’re going to stop having NETs in secondary schools. Educational policies require gradual and predictable changes for the stability of curriculum operation at schools. To help make informed decisions on NET policy, this study took surveys of 127 middle and high school Korean English teachers across metropolitan cities, small and medium cities and rural areas, one teacher a school from 127 schools regarding the NET policy. The questionnaire consisted of 6 categories and 35 questions asking about satisfaction, contribution, in-class roles and their effectiveness. The results were quantified and took further interview where it needed qualitative supplementation. The findings were: Teachers in rural areas, middle schools and who don’t practice TEE are more satisfied with NETs than teachers in other areas, high schools and who practice TEE in their English c1asses respectively. This result demands that the NET policy decisions should be differentiated by the different needs of NETs between areas, between school levels and between teachers with and without TEE ability.
