A study on the Competitiveness Among Busan and Gwangyang Ports Using Game Models

Recently the competition among ports to attract container cargoes had become more and more fierce. So in this study, we set a goal to analyze the port competitiveness between Susan and Gwangyang ports for attracting container cargoes from adjacent Industrial Zone by using of game model. In order to make competitive game model among two ports, firstly collected real data for Susan and Gwangyang ports of 2001-2007 including port facilities, container traffic, budget investment, port efficiency, service quality and analyzed opti.mal response prices on service quality of the two ports after applying the model on the competition between two container ports using by competitive game model. Finally compared the trend of progress duri.ng 2001-2007 of two ports after computing the service quality corresponding to the weight of service quality for determination of the optimal corresponding charge. However, this study had only adopted a comparative analysis of service qualities of two ports after converting of service qualities into coefficients under presumption that the Shipper shall use only one port out of adjacent two ports and the coefficients did not reflected all of service qualities, but partially a few qualities. Therefore the more accurate comparison through gathering and digitizing of all available information is needed for systematic and accurate study in the future.
