The article deals with the specific artistic modes and devices which M. Gorky exploits to create the image of Klim Samgin. Revealing the uniqueness of individual consciousness of literary character and his creator, these modes and devices display the general tendency to recognition of enduring value of human personality common for a number of Russian writers of 1920-1930s.
