This study investigates the effects of the story based role-play project by proficiency levels and the effects of parental involvement by posting role-play video clips on the class website. In order to verify the effects, multiple tests, surveys and periodical interviews were carried out. The results reveal that employing story based role-plays with peer teaching was effective and that video clips of the students’ role-plays on the class website motivates the parents to involve actively in their children’s academic achievement and greatly improves students’ motivation. The speaking test results also show that the total amount of vocabularies and the average number of words per utterance had significantly increased. The effects of peer teaching turned out to be effective for both groups; The lower level students showed improvement in their language proficiency, responsibility, and participation in role-plays and the higher level students, handling with the conflicts in preparing their role-plays, developed experienced leadership.
