영어매개 강의를 활용한 대학 영어요가 수업의 효과에 관한 연구

A study of the effects of English yoga class for college students

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effectiveness of teaching yoga in English for college students. After 24 college students took a semester of yoga class in English from a native speaker of English, an English test and questionnaires were administered. The effectiveness of the class was measured through the improvement in the students' English test scores, their level of satisfaction with the class, and changes in their perceptions of English-mediated instruction(EMI) classes. The results showed overall satisfaction of the students with the class except with their improvement in English through the course. A statistically significant increase was not found in the students' English test scores. Regarding the changes in the students' perceptions, their affective perceptions of EM! classes were shown to have changed over the semester in more positive directions, but not their perceptions about English and learning English: their confidence in taking EM! classes was significantly improved while their anxiety level was significantly decreased. Of their affective perceptions about English and learning English, their level of anxiety was significantly lowered. Pedagogical and research implications are suggested.
