화합문화(和合文化)와 동국이념(東國理念): 한국문화의 복합적 특징

The Culture of Harmony and the Eastern Philosophy: Dual Character of Korean Culture - Taking Literature Performance as Concentration -

한국문학이 중국문학 및 유가문화와 태생적으로 불가분의 관계가 있다. 중국에 유학 및 빈공과에 응시하러 간 것과 중국이 조선의 정황을 이해하거나 책을 하사했던 것, 또는 정기 및 부정기적인 조공사행은 정치 및 외교적 사명을 이행하는 것 이외에도 문화의 수출 및 수입을 담당한 사명을 띠고 있는 것이었다. 이른 시기부터 중원문화와 한반도의 문화교류의 대부분은 대등하지 않은 외교였고, 한반도는 대부분 중원의 문화를 전수받거나 혹은 생존 방식으로 어쩔 수 없이 중원문화를 적극적으로 받아들이는 위치에 처해 있었다. 이러한 문화상의 융합은 표면적으로 조화롭고 안정적인 상태인 화합(和合) 양상을 띠었다. 마땅히 기록이 나타난 이후 2000여년의 시간 속에서 화합(和合)은 중ㆍ한 문화교류사에 있어서 주된 경향이었으며, 전체 한ㆍ중 교류사를 관통하는 가장 중요한 특징이었다. 그러나 문화의 발전과 진보에 따라 지역, 국가, 민족의식의 강화되어 민족국가에 대한 자아인식 또한 일정한 변화가 발생하였는데, 이는 동국(東國) 및 동방(東方) 이념에 대한 의미를 고찰해보는 것을 통해 확인할 수 있다. 문화의 발전에 있어서 상이한 단계는 동국(東國) 및 동방(東方)의 의미에서 중국을 기준삼아 자신의 정도에 대한 의식을 규칙적으로 드러내도록 하였고, 자신의 문화에 대해 점점 자신감을 갖게 되면서 동국(東國) 및 동방(東方) 개념에서 민족 자아의 의미는 점점 풍부하고도 강렬해졌는데, 바꾸어 말한다면 이는 일종의 자기 겸손 의식을 드러낸 것이었다. 이러한 다른 측면 역시도 또한 중원문화가 한반도 문화에 얼마나 거대한 영향을 미쳤는지를 반영하는 것으로서 그 영향력은 지울래야 지울 수가 없으며, 혼연일체의 정도는 실로 화합(和合)이 ‘화성(化成)’되었다고 말할 수 있는 데 이는 한시ㆍ한문학 이론의 확립과 창작 실천 측면에서 모두 검증될 수 있는 것들이다.

There is an integral part of the association among Korean literature, Chinese literature and Confucius culture. Other than geopolitical diplomacy, there is also a mission about cultural output or input for no matter students abroad in China, recommend scholars, folk songs collectors, the given books by emperors, scheduled or unscheduled tributes. However, it appeared that it was an uncoordinated culture exchange in the early Chinese culture and Korean peninsula. For Korean society, it’s much more than a style of receptive, or a status of survival mode which had to absorb actively. This kind of cultural integration showed a harmonious and stable status which called harmony. We can say that during the history of cultural exchange between the two countries which lasted more than 2000 years, harmony is the main trend and the most important feature. However, along with the civilizing and improving of culture, the consciousness of territorial states and nationality got improved, which led to a change in auto-gnosis for some national states. That can be affirmed in the investigation on Eastern philosophy connotation. In different developing stage of culture, the connotation regularly showed a degree of self-confidence on the premise of realizing the existence of China. The national self connotation will be more plentiful and forceful if the people take more confidence on their own culture. On the contrary, it will be showed as a modesty consciousness. It can reflect how the Chinese culture influenced the culture of Korean peninsula. In a manner of speaking, the influence can be considered as a status of integral whole that can’t be taken away. It can be confirmed in aspects of establishment and creative works of Chinese poetry and literary theory.
