The purpose of this study is to investigate how English educators and learners are aware of the positioning of coaching, comparing with other English teaching methods. This study was analyzed mixed research method as qualitative and quantitative using multidimensional scaling (MDS). The results conclude as follows: first, the perception map presented for positioning of each teaching method shows that coaching was recognized as similar to scaffolding and mentoring by participants. Second, the concept of coaching was not clearly perceived for the participants. Third, teaching methods such as training, coaching, task-based, and form-focused method were treated as deal teaching methods.
