This study examined the Buddhist temple display of Chilgok Songnimsa. The results are as follows. First, while it was known that the foundation of Songnimsa was the early 6th century by vague records in Joseon, more accurate foundation period could be verified by historic environments surrounding the temple and relics excavated from the renovation survey of Samseonggak site. In addition, the outlined history of the foundation period up to the Joseon period could be reconstructed based on relics, literatures in Songnimsa and documented area data produced in Joseon. Second, the Buddhist temple display at the time of foundation was conjectured. In particular, it was found that the current main axis line of south to north is not that from the foundation period by comparing Dangganjiju and that of other sites in Gyeongju at the Unified Silla. And the size would be larger than the current one. Third, the survival stone relics including double seated foundation stone, stone light and ritual stone are those created in the 8th century at a time when the temple was extended other than the relics of the foundation period. In addition, the extension scope of the temple in Goryeo was regarded to the west section where Dangganjiju currently exists. Fourth, Songnirnsa in Goryeo period was totally destroyed by fire by the Mongolian invasion in Goryeo. And it seems highly possible to be reconstructed at the same time based on the Sadongjungjyeong shape display rather than a construction in a serial order. And based on such conjecture, Sadongjungjyeonghyeong temple display seems to have the possibility to appear in the Goryeo period, rather earlier period.
