본 논문은 물류산업을 인프라에 대한 투자와 다양한 서비스 제공으로 새로운 부가가치를 창출하는 산업으로 규정하고, 물류산업이 국가 경제 발전을 선도하는 기간 산업으로 발전할 수 있는 정책 대안을 종합적으로 모색하고 있다. 물류기업들의 성장에 따른 물류산업의 발전은 궁극적으로 개별 국가의 경제영토를 확장하고 고용창출, 연관산업의 효과적인 해외진출 및 비즈니스 지원이 가능하여 국가 전체의 산업 경쟁력을 제고시쳐 주는 동맥과 같은 역할을 하게 된다. 이와 같은 중요성을 인식하고 본 논문은 글로벌 시장 변화에 따른 국내 물류기업들의 구조변화가 예상되는 가운데 물류산업과 주요 산업의 동반 진출, 3PL 기업 육성 등 전략 제안 및 정부 차원에서 고려하거나 지원해야 할 정책적 시사점 및 지원 방안을 제안하고 있다.
In the past logistics industry was recognized as its supportive role for manufacturing or distribution industries. But now it is recognized as a value added industry through its provision of various services. Korea's logistics industry should properly cope with new challenges. Korea needs to foster logistics companies which will lead the industrial development in order to build the foundation for national wealth crea-tion and secure international trade competitiveness as well as building an advanced economic structure. Some policy measures are suggested to strengthen the com-petitiveness of Korean logistics industry : integrated logistics businesses should be de-veloped by forming virtual businesses, specialized logistics firms should grow through mergers and acquisitions among companies, the market size should be expanded by cultivating northeast Asian market, the laws and decrees related with the development of logistics business should be re-established.
