A man who is new to learning must first establish the spirit of learning, but he must also promise that will become a Sage at all costs and never have the slightest thought of giving up learning by thinking himself unworthy. - Yul-Gok Yi I(2012: 25) This paper examines academic achievement of Korean philosophy of education. The study is based review and post-review on three textbooks that are Modem Understanding of Traditional Education[전통 교육의 현대적 이해], Educational System of Confucianism[유교의 교육학 체계], and Inter-road of Teaching and Learning[가르침과 배움 사이로]. The result of analysis of this study has five periods: (1) declaration stage-Modern Understanding of Traditional Education, (2) enlightenment stage-Educational System of Confucianism, (3) deconstruction stage-Inter-road of Teaching and Learning, (4) proliferation stage, and (5) fruition stage. Incomplete task of traditional discourse in educational studies is academic achievement of (4) and (5)'s stages in future. Additionally, philosophical approach of Korean tradition on education needs systematic performance focused on Hong-Ik-In-Gan, Confucianism, Buddhism, and Taoism in Korean context.
