학교폭력과 관련된 연구들은 그 동안 주로 사회학계와 교육학계에서 수행되었으나, 이 문제에 대한 경찰의 사회적 역할이 요구되는 현 시점에서 경찰학계의 연구는 매우 미미한 상황이었다. 따라서 본 연구는 사회적 문제로 대두된 학교폭력의 원인을 실증적 차원에서 분석하고 원인을 근거로 경찰의 대응 정책의 방향성을 유추하는데 주안점을 두었다. 우선 종속변수로 학교폭력을 설정하고 폭력가해여부와 폭력가해빈도로 구분하였다. 학교폭력의 원인을 분석하기 위해 인구학적 요인, 사회적 요인, 학교적 요인을 통제변수로 설정하고, 독립변수인 자기애적 성향과 범죄인식여부의 효과를 추정하였다. 연구자료는 수도권지역 고교생을 대상으로 수집된 189개의 설문응답자료를 사용하였고, 연구모형은 이분형 로짓 모형과 순서형 로짓 모형을 응용하여 적용하였다. 연구분석 결과, 독립변수인 자기애적 성향은 그 성향이 높을수록 학교폭력의 가해빈도를 높이는 효과를 지닌 것으로 분석되었고, 또 다른 독립변수인 범죄인식여부는 학교폭력을 범죄로 인식하는 응답자가 그렇지 않은 응답자에 비해 학교폭력가해 가능성 및 빈도 증가 가능성에 부정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과를 바탕으로 자기애적 성향의 부정적 측면은 장기적 관점에서 교육적 차원의 해결을 우선하되 경찰의 정책연구의 필요성이 요구됨을 추론할 수 있었고, 단기적 차원에서 경찰당국과 교육당국의 협력적 거버넌스로 학교폭력의 범죄성 인식을 위한 체계적인 정책노력이 필요하다는 함의를 도출할 수 있었다.
Researches about school violence were carried out by sociologists and educationalists, but there have been few studies on school violence in Police Science research fields. So, this paper's aim is to find reasons of the school violence through empirical methods and to infer and suggest purpose of police policy on that problem. I set the experience to do school violence and frequency of school violence as dependent variables vise versa the independent variables being narcissistic personality and perception of school violence as crime. A survey data consisting of 189 respondents who are high school students in Seoul and Gyeonggi province was used for analysis, and binary logit model and ordered logit model were applied. Results showed that those of narcissistic personality affected positively the frequency of school violence and the perception of crime had a negative effect on possibility and frequency of school violence. These findings suggest that solving problems from narcissistic personality is needed with educational perspectives in long-term and that collaborate governance between police and education authorities for instilling the perception on crime in students demanded in short-term approach.
