다문화 사회에서의 시민성 교육

Multicultural citizenship Education: focusing on ‘global citizenship’ and ‘hospitality’

이 논문은 지구화 시대의 다문화 시민 교육의 지향과 내용, 그리고 방법에 대해 고찰한 것이다. 글로벌화의 진전에 따른 다문화 사회의 형성과 함께 한국사회에서 이루어져 온 다문화 교육은 문화적 다양성의 강조와 수용이라는 아젠다를 중심으로 이루어지면서 불균등, 사회적 부정의 등 구조적·사회적 문제는 상대적으로 소홀하게 다루어지거나 간과되어 왔다. 이 논문은 이러한 한국사회의 다문화교육의 양상을 비판적 관점에서 검토하면서 지구화 시대의 다문화 시민성 교육의 핵심적인 요소로 세계시민성과 환대의 개념을 제시하고, 이에 기반한 다문화 시민성 교육의 원리와 실행사례를 고찰하였다. 다시 말하면, 지구화 시대의 다문화 시민성 교육은 어떤 비전과 목표를 가져야 하는지 그리고, 이러한 비전과 목표에 근거한 다문화 시민성 교육의 구체적인 실천사례는 어떤 것이 있는지를 논의하였다.

This paper investigates principes and method of multicultural citizenship education in era of globalisation. Multicultural education in Korea has been done focusing on cultural diversity and tolerance. Therefore, the social problems such as social unequality and injustice has been neglected consciously and unconsciously. This study proposes global citizenship and hospitality as a core elements of multicultural education in era of globalisation and investigate the principles and methode of education based on them. In brief, I discussed what is multicultural education based on global citizenship and hospitality and how we can practice this educational program.
