A Study on Measures to Develop Korean Global Logistics Companies

Due to advances in information technology and logistics management, more and more companies are seeking to achieve competitive advantages by expanding their operations to a global scale. Most of companies including multinational corporations is considered to employ a logistics as one of core competitive factors and to be one of the main outsourcing function which is able to provide many benefits in the supply chain. Although Korea occupies a leading position in shipping, shipbuilding and air transport industry, but it maintains a weak position in global logistics service industry. Therefore Korea needs to foster global logistics companies to reap benefits not only from growing logistics demand but from facilitating international trade of Korea. This study aims to investigate success cases for global logistics companies and suggest policy measures and business solutions to develop Korean logistics companies more competitive in the global logistics market.
