The Impact of On-Time Delivery on Credit Rating of the Vendors in Supply Chain Management

Due to the increased impact of the information system in logistics and SCM, major international firms are finding it more important to strengthen the process integration and supply chain cooperations. More organizations are now adopting IT based production type, lean inventory SCM and seamless information integration system. In contrast to existing studies which approached this issue as literature review, we conducted a case study of a particular steel export company. Further, this study explores the relationship between the “on time delivery performance” and “credit rating” in 191 suppliers of the “U” steel company. We especially investigated the importance of the “on time delivery” in the light of credit standing issue in supplier evaluations. The regression results support the significance of the “on time delivery performance” on credit rating of the suppliers. Suppliers that have high delivery performance are more likely to have higher credit ratings. It was evident that the key to a suppliers’ gaining a high credit standing is the ratio of “on time delivery” performance.
