In modern times, a human life has become materially more prosperous with a higher quality of life. As a result, which in which face, hair and body shape mean something has been the mainstream, and plastic surgery clinics, skincare shops and body shape & body fat control shops have been in full swing. As the world has become globalized thanks to the rapid distribution of the Internet, hairstyles which contain the characteristics of ethnic culture regardless of race and individual personality-oriented retrospective style have emerged. In fact, hairstyle has been the ground to understand an object of human aesthetic needs and overall culture and society and important means to express personality. However, most previous studies on hairstyle and its reproduction focused on reviewing a few short eras only. In other words, it’s been hard to find a study on the reproduction of hairstyle from the modern perspective along with historical review. Therefore, this study has figured out how the aesthetic standards of hairstyle were expressed under the religious social atmosphere from the 4th century in the Byzantine Empire to the 15th century (Gothic era) and reproduced hairstyle during the Middle Ages in order to understand the relations between contemporary art style and hairstyle, find out what impact art style had on hairstyle and assess technical difficulties and artistic values.
