This paper discusses and focuses on the representation of physical disabilities in Hollywood; especially as its the theme of Children of a Lesser God Based on the discussion, this paper examines the manner in which Medoff's play and its meaning have been adapted for the screen. This paper analyzes Mark Medoff's play and the adapted film version by Randa Haines on the basis of considerations regarding Hollywood films about disabilities until now. A difference between the play and the film is that the play focuses on deaf identity politics whereas the film focuses on Haines's double visions. First of all, double visions as the overall content of the film is the subjectivity of disabled woman and romance. Second, double visions at the pool scene represents the visual pleasure and concept of chora. Last, double visions at the school fall festival is deaf identity and patriarchal audism oriented. Both the play in 1979 and the film in 1986 received a lot of praise from critics and audiences alike.
