This study examined the current status on how a tea culture program was practiced and understood to people in a temple stay. On necessity of the tea culture program in a temple stay, most (79.8%) answered that the culture program is necessary. The tea culture program helps their mental health and is important in Temple stay. After the program in a temple stay, the most (61.5%) comments from the participants were that they found tranquillity in mind. This indicates how thet heanine in tea affects people’s mind. The participants also responded that they felt lighter(27.8%), and more awake (1.7%). The participants were mostly interested in ‘making and drinking tea (37.6%)’ and ‘meditation with tea (27.2%)’. In a question asking for utilizing the tea culture program more actively, the participants suggested ‘understanding the content of thet ea culture program (M = 4.00)’. To easily understand the tea culture program, the program should be developed and practiced according to the people’s needs. Such programs should be developed and supported by social systems, such as professional institutions and schools specializing in tea culture in Buddhist culture seen from various aspects of society. This practical value of tea should be applied actively to daily life to overcome the individualism and lack of communication in this modern capitalist society.
