Tea in Turkey was one of the stocks on the Silk Road and was affected by Russian and Mongolia. The Turks traditionally drank coffee and many people enjoyed it in coffee houses, Kahvehane. Territorial problems, the financial crisis and agricultural policy, however, led to an increase in tea consumption. The beverage has advantages in that it is rapid, serviceable and low price. Furthermore, it was an up to date culture and in contrastto coffee houses, tea rooms were opened to women. The government decided to cultivate tea. Despite a few failures, Turkish tea production has grown gradually and Turkey is one of the top 5 largest tea producing and consuming countries. This is caused by a law that assist tea production. The result shows that tea culture and production are affected organically.
