This study explores how the US government makes decision for filing complaint to GATT/WTO based on the four international political economic theories of Frieden and Lake (2009). The findings suggest that the domestic institutional and domestic political perspectives dominate the analysis. Specifically presidential ideology and small sized but highly concentrated interest groups are mostly significant to explain the US decision for participation in GATT/WTO dispute.
