According to globalization, vertical specialization in trade literature becomes of interest. It affects the volume of trade as well as the pattern of trade. Korea experiences increases not only in vertical specialization but in volumes of trade. This paper analyzes the average effect of VS share on industrial GDP growth respectively. The degrees of vertical specialization of 70 industries of Korea are measured by the HIY method. On the measurement of vertical specialization, we find that there is a positive relationship between vertical specialization share and industrial GDP growth of Korea. In addition, we examined the relationship between vertical specialization and export and found that they have a positive relationship.
