Degree of Internationalization of Korea firms and Its Performance

In recent global market, International diversification is one of the most decisive strategies in Multinational enterprises. However MNEs now encounter a number of difficulties in internationalization diversification according to high risk of managing the overseas subsidiaries and inherent cost of foreignness. This study examined the relationship between the degree of internationalization(DOI) and the firm performance by analysing 120 Korean top manufacturing companies which went publicly listed in the KOSPI as of 2011. In this regard, this study was conducted with following objectives: (1) to examine the variables of Degree Of Internationalization -structure dimension, performance dimension, behavior dimension- by Reliability analysis and Factor analysis for deriving DOI factor. (2) to explore the relationship between DOI factor and firm performance by multiple regression analysis. (3) to verify positive moderate effects of the corporate capabilities on the relationship between the DOI and performance. As a result of this research, three hypotheses were adopted. First, Structure variable of DOI(FATA), Performance variable of DOI(FSTS) are partially selected the explanatory variable. Second the relationship between DOI and firm performance is expected to be inverted U-shape. Third, moderate effect of the corporate capabilities will affect the corporate performance.
