On Victim Prevention in Traffic Accidence

The purpose of this study is to investigate victims in traffic accidence, and to provide victim prevention policy in traffic accidence in Korea. Traffic accidence here are defined as incidents in which negligence on the part of the driver of any type of motor vehicles caused death, bodily injury or property damage. According to the 'Statistics on Traffic' published by the National Police Agency, these traffic accidence offense one of the prominent crimes in our society. The traffic accidence offenses as a category was the most prevalent in 2001, accounting about 20% of total offences in Korea For these traffic accidence offense, children and 60 or older in walking had higher victimization. In this study, we have suggested the amendment on Traffic Accidence Act, the improvement of pedestrian system in traffic, such as Traffic claming. On the basis of our study, we suggest that future research in this area should concentrate on the specific subjects and programs.
