There are two victimization theories, lifestyle theories and routine activities theories. The central concepts of these theories ar the same; proximity to crime, exposure to crime, target attractiveness, and guardianship. The purpose of this study is to investigate empirically the offender-victim overlap in Korea. The idea that demographic factors of offenders and victims are homogeneous is issue in victimology. In this study, we try to review the victim's characteristics, identify to victim-offender pattern(non-victim and non-offender, victim, victim-offender, and offender), and discuss the prospects of integrating researches of victimization with researches of criminality. The data used in this study are drawn from a self-reported survey conducted in Seoul, in 2000. The sample consists of a total of 1,012, middle and high school students aged between 12 and 21. To examine the offender-victim overlap, we used ANOVA, cluster analysis. We conclude that offence involvement such as larceny, robbery, assault, and vandalism increases the one's risk of victimization. From our study, it is implied that future research should attempt to develop a more refined model on the off ender-victim overlap.
