This study is conducted to understand the meanings and nature of the experience of the sexually abused. The participants for this study were victims of abuses by their biological fathers who had reported to and been protected by a shelter or their mother. The participants consist of 8 girls, in the age 12-17. Data were collected by using semi-structured interviewsand documents that written their story. Data were analyzed by using the CQR(Consensual Qualitative Research) developed by Hill, Thomson, and Williams(1997). The experience of child was analized from the perspective of "I'm in the situation," "What happened to me," "I have to live," "I wish to make new family." "The Situation" include family violence, fearful atmosphere that the children could not resist, social incompetancy of the fathers which might be associated with unemployment, and/or physical and/or functional inexistence of the mothers. "What happened to me" include fear, helpless resistence, confusion, depression, and urge to escape from the situation. However, the participants feel that they "have to live" and to do so, try to surpress the memory, try to get accusomed to new shelters, view money as a mean to live and make the lives safer, prepare for escape if abuse would happen again, and distrust the fathers who seemingly are changed. In addition, the chindren wish to make new family by imaging idealized family. And, More in-depth understanding of the experience of sexually abused children can contribute to develop more appropriate social supports and services for the victims.
