The method of pronunciation training of Korean vowels for Slovenian speakers

This study concerns effective method of vowel pronunciation training for the Slovenian university students who study Korean. Instruction on letters and pronunciation is crucial as a first step. Above all, the comparison of phonemes is made to search the effective method of pronunciation training. The 10 vowel system of Korean appears more complex than the 8 vowel systems of Slovenian. Common and exclusive phonemes in Korean (target language) and Slovenian (native language) can be found by making a comparison between the phonemes of the two languages. Training for common phonemes is comparatively easy, but training for phonemes that can be found only in Korean should be done in steps to accomplish the desired objective. Pronunciation training for the vowels can be executed in 3 steps. First, the vowel system should be introduced. Second, training on the vowels whose letters and location of articulation are similar should take place. Finally, training on the vowels that are found only in Korean should occur.
