아내와 떨어져 0세 자녀를 양육한 경험이 있는 아버지의 사례연구

The Qualitative Case Study of Father Who Has an Experience of Raising an Infant in Age of 0 without His Wife

본 연구는 아내와 떨어져 자녀를 양육해본 아버지가 어떠한 경험을 하였는지, 이러한 과정에서 경험하는 아버지됨의 의미는 어떠한지 알아보고자 하였다. 이를 위해 이러한 경험이 있는 아버지를 심층면담하여 수집된 자료를 분석하였다. 분석한 결과에 따르면, 아내와 떨어져 양육하는 것은 새로운 도전이었으며, 이러한 도전은 두려움으로 다가왔다. 연구참여자에게 주변 사람들은 낮은 육아 기대치를 가지고 있었으나 점차 역할비중을 스스로 높아나갔으며, 해보지 않았던 일상적 양육의 영역까지 경험하게 되었다. 하지만 전적으로 육아를 담당할 수 없었던 연구참여자는 주변에 도움의 손길을 구해야 했으며 어려움을 느끼기도 하였다. 이러한 경험을 통해 아버지로서 지속적으로 노력을 기울여야 하고, 가족 모두의 행복을 추구해야 하며, 전통적인 아버지의 역할에 갇혀 있기보다 새로운 아버지됨을 만들어가야 함을 깨닫게 되었다. 또한 자신은 가족을 위해 희생이 아닌 당당한 선택을 하는 존재이며, 앞으로도 계속 고민하게 될 존재임을 깨닫게 되었다. 이는 홀로 자녀를 양육하는 아버지들을 이해하는데 실질적인 도움을 줄 것이며, 이러한 아버지들과 자녀를 지원하는 체계를 마련하는데 기초자료로써 의의를 가질 것이다.

The purpose of this study is to research what kind of experience does a father who has raised his child without his wife has and what is the meaning of that experience. For this, we have deeply interviewed a father who has such experience and have analyzed collected data. Raising his child without his wife was a new challenge to him and a fear fell upon him as such challenge began. Raising experience was started from the low expectations of neighboring people toward him but gradually he increased his role in raising and started to know what is an actual raising. However, he had to ask for the help to neighboring people and sometimes he felt the difficult. Through such experience, he got to be realized that he has to strive continuously as a father, has to pursue the happiness of all family members, and has to create a new role of father rather than stuck in the typical role of father. Also, he realized that he has to make not a sacrifice but a fair choice for his family and will concern this continuously even in future. This will be an actual help to understand fathers who raise their children alone and will has the meaning as a basic data to prepare the system to support such fathers and their children.
