평생교육기관 경험과 참여지속의 관계에서 장소애착의 매개경로 탐색

Exploring the mediated paths of place attachment in the relationships between lifelong educational experiences and learners' persistence

평생교육기관은 평생학습의 장소로서 성인학습자에게 특별한 의미를 갖는다. 성인학습자는 평생교육기관에 정서적 유대감을 느끼고 자아정체성의 일부로 평생교육기관을 받아들이기도 한다. 이와 관련된 변수를 장소애착이라고 한다. 그러나 평생교육 분야에서 장소애착에 대한 연구를 발견하기 어렵다. 이에 본 연구에서는 평생교육기관 경험을 학문적 경험, 사회적 경험, 공동체 경험으로 구체화하고, 평생교육기관 경험이 성인학습자의 참여지속에 직접 영향을 미치는 관계와 장소애착을 통하여 간접 영향을 미치는 관계를 포함하는 구조방정식모형을 실증적으로 분석하는 것을 연구목적으로 설정하였다. 이런 연구목적을 달성하기 위하여 5개 평생교육기관의 강좌를 수강하는 성인학습자를 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였고, 회수된 429개 설문지 자료를 활용하여 구조방정식모형을 분석하였다. 분석결과, 장소애착은 학문적 경험과 사회적 경험의 영향을 참여지속에 매개하는 역할을 수행하는 것으로 나타났다. 그리고 장소애착은 자체로 참여지속에도 직접적으로 정적 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 그러나 공동체 경험의 경우, 장소애착을 통한 매개효과는 존재하지 않았다. 이런 연구결과에 대한 논의 및 시사점을 제시하였다.

Organizations in lifelong learning and education supply adult learners with educational experiences(academic, social and community experiencee). These experiences can change learners' career, social relationships and so on. Because of these experiences and changes, adult learners are likely to accept the organizations or institutions as important and meaningful place in their life. Place attachment can be a variable that explain adult learners' familiarity with the organizations of lifelong education. And literature review showed that place attachment could connect the special experiences in a specific place with the positive or negative evaluation of a place, revisiting to a place, participation on the programs at a place an so on. But it is difficult to find a study about place attachment in the area of lifelong education. Hence, the purpose of this study is to investigate the mediated effects of place attachment in the relationships between lifelong educational experiences and learners' persistence. For this purpose, researcher tested the SEM model based on data collected from 429 adult learners. SPSS 12.0 English version and AMOS 4.0 programs were used. The results of the analyses showed that place attachment played a role as a mediated variable in relationship between lifelong educational experiences and persistence. Also place attachment directly made an effect on adult learner's persistence. But community experience among lifelong educational experiences didn't make an effect on place attachment. Based on these results, several implications are suggested.
