A Study on Lines Created in Beauty Design

This paper aimed to identify the infinite formative potentials of lines by investigating and analyzing the expression features of lines in beauty design as the analysis on the expression approaches and understanding of meaning symbolized by lines and so to present the basis for a variety of creative works in beauty design using lines. The analysis results are described below. The first potential is the limitless change. Beauty design expresses diverse kinds of lines by thickness, length, direction or angle. Lines demonstrate infinite potentials through the change in a form without being just contour line. Lines play the visual and perceptual roles. Beauty design expresses objects by lines and at the same time, presents the function of lines as the independent visual object. Lines containing the various kinds of expression and behavioral features propose the possibility of creative beauty design. Next, lines illustrate the creative movement. The straight line in beauty design is created by formatively reasonable and visual simplicity and the curve is expressed as the factor arousing diverse kinds of imagination. Emotional lines or vital lines in hair, makeup or nail design express the creative movements for voluntary motion or emotion of lines themselves or aesthetic pleasure in liberal expression.
