현대 패션 컬렉션에 나타난 가면(Mask)의 이미지 특성 연구

A Study of Characteristics of Mask Images in Modern Fashion Collections -Focusing on avant-garde fashion collections during the 2000-2013 period-

This study has classified the characteristics of art masks, which have played a critical role in expressing a variety of experimental and artistic images as well as unique artistic qualities through fashion collections, and summarized them by image. In terms of theoretical background, a general review that includes analysis of the origin and type of mask has been implemented. For this, European carnival carnivals in which both fashion and masks can be enjoyed including the Venice Mask Festival have been investigated. This study has analyzed the visual characteristics of masks in experimental and challenging avant-garde fashion collections since 2000. According to the analysis, the following five characteristics have been obtained: natural, oriental, futuristic, grotesque and ornamental characteristics. The art mask has been expressed as a concept of total coordination that brings harmony and unity. It is more than just the expression of beauty as an important creation factor defining the characteristics of modern fashion. The art mask as a kind of expressive technique could be attempted more frequently using creative ideas.
