대학생 진로교육 개선을 위한 해외의 정책과 운영 사례 비교

A comparative Study on the Policies and Managements of the Career Education for Improving it at the Tertiary Level

이 논문은 한국 대학 진로교육의 개선을 위해 능력 개발을 위한 교과과정이나 프로그램을 개설해야 한다는 입장에서 출발한다. 연구 목적은 해외 기관이나 대학들의 진로교육 관련 정책이나 운영에 대한 사례들을 살펴보고, 한국 대학에서의 진로교육방향을 논의하는 것이다. 이를 위해, 진로교육을 보다 포괄적으로 정의하고 관련 선행연구를 검토한 후, 해외 진로교육의 정책과 운영 사례들을 정리하였으며, 한국 진로교육의 개선을 위한 방향을 논의하였다. 해외 대학에서는 진로교육의 정책과 운영차원에서 핵심능력 포함, 실무자 전문성 강화 등의 특징을 볼 수 있었으며, 한국 대학의 진로교육에서도 핵심능력과 전문성 강화 지향이 필요하다고 제안하였다. 문헌연구 의존이라는 한계에도 불구하고, 고등교육의 보편화와 청년 실업률의 증가로 진로교육의 중요성이 부각되고 있는 시점에서, 보다 실질적인 대학생 진로교육에 대한 논의에 발판을 마련했다는 점에서 본 연구의 의의를 찾을 수 있을 것이다.

The purpose of this study is to compare the policies and management of the career education for improving the collegiate career education in Korea. To this end, this article dealt with the following issues: Defining the terms regarding career education, reviewing the previous literature, describing the features of the polices and managements abroad, and discussing the implications of the findings in korean environment. First of all, the term career education was defined as a range of activities which help students develop key skills and competences needed in the labor market through the appropriate courses. Next, the policies and management of the career education abroad was described in terms of international institutions such as UNESCO, OECD, European Union and some exemplars at the national and collegiate level. As a result, I found out that the career education included the development of the key competencies and emphasized the professionalism of the practitioners. Finally, it was suggested that the korean higher education should be aware of the polices and management for the effective and realistic career education and revise the current content and methods accordingly. Despite the methodological limits of the study, this article can contribute to establish the theoretical basis for improving the future career education at the korean universities. To further study is desirable.
