영어 어휘 연구 최근 동향 분석

The purpose of this study is to review and synthesize current research on English vocabulary. With this aim, this study selected various articles from five major research journals published in Korea from 2000 to 2011. A total of 68 vocabulary-related articles were reviewed and analyzed in terms of the following four perspectives: 1) the historical trends in vocabulary research; 2) the research methodology; 3) the research subjects' levels; and 4) the main research topic. The results of this study show that the amount of research conducted on vocabulary is increasing over time, and quantitative research outnumbered qualitative in terms of research methodology. A larger amount of research was conducted on the elementary school level in comparison to other levels. As for the research topic, the majority of the research was conducted on vocabulary teaching and learning compared to other areas. This study provides a systematic model for analyzing current vocabulary-related research, and shows a historical overview of current vocabulary research in Korea.
