한국의 프랑스어 학습자들의 요청 완화장치 사용에 관한 연구

The present study aims to investigate Korean French learners' request strategies. Specifically, it focuses on the use of request downgraders in request situations. To this end, 30 Korean French learners and 30 French native speakers participated in this study. For data collecting method, the Discourse Completion Test was used and six request situations were presented. The results of the study showed that the Korean French learners used downgraders far less frequently and this made their request formulas more direct and less polite than the ones used by French native speakers. Moreover, French native speakers used not only various request downgraders in their request formulas, but also they combined several downgraders in one request formula, making it more polite and mitigated. These results suggest that French teachers in Korea need to be aware of this problem in their students and to instruct this aspect of pragmatic competence in their class.
