철강기업의 해외시장 진출전략에 관한 연구

The Entry Mode Strategy in the Steel Industry: The Cases of POSCO and ArcelorMittal

Since the accelerated globalization and the glutted local market, it has become a top priority for survival for steel makers to enter the global market. This study aims to examine the entry mode strategies of ArcelorMittal and POSCO which are the two of the world's best steel producers. ArcelorMittal and POSCO adopted different entry mode strategies in the way that ArcelorMittal used M&A for expanding its market share, whereas POSCO continued to enter foreign market by way of Greenfield investment. Through the comparative analysis of ArcelorMittal and POSCO, this study investigated the circumstance and cause of adopting different entry mode strategies and provided comprehensive understanding of foreign investment in the steel industry.
