South Korea's Development Strategies for the Materials and Parts Industry against Japan

The trade surplus to Japan (2012) recorded the deficit of $25.57 billion. It was less than the trade deficit with Japan for its previous year, 20 II ($28.64 billion), but it was attributable to the import from Japan to be decreased from the exchange rate with strong Yen and weak Won currency. In trade deficit against Japan $25.57 billion of 2012, trade balance of materials & parts industry had deficit of $22.23 billion. 7% of this trade deficit against Japan is occurring in materials & parts industry. Based on this kind of perception on current situation, this paper is aiming in analyzing progress of competitiveness in exports and imports of materials & parts industry against Japan, and draw confrontation strategy for improving the trade deficit against Japan.
