The objective of this paper is to examine the level of understandability of trade terminology and the determinants of the understandability. The paper uses multi-regression analysis to see how demographic factors affect the understandability of trade terminology. The results are as follows: (1)The average level of the understandability ranges from 50.39 to 20.79(100 point scale) over twenty-two terminologies. (2)The understandability of each terminology differs: the most difficult terminology is 'balance of payment' and the least difficult terminology is 'trade'. (3)Among four determinants, the most influential determinant to understandability is 'unclearly defined terminologies' and the least influential determinant is 'wrongly defined terminologies'. (4)Multi-regression analysis of demographic factors' impact on the understandability of four sectors' terminology shows that grade and age affect all sectors positively, but gender has positive relationship only with international trade. This paper can be useful for the development of educational materials and teaching methods effective and efficient for trade learners.
