Knowledge, attitude and performance regarding skin health care among female high school students in the Chang-won area

This study was conducted to prepare core data regarding the health education of high school students and to assess mutual affective factors between the knowledge, attitude and performance of skin health care. The author surveyed the status of the knowledge, attitude and performance of skin health care with 400 female high school students in the Chang-won area using a structured, self-administered questionnaire. The questionnaire consisted of 52 questions regarding general characteristics, health related characteristics, skin characteristics, attitude and performance of healthy skin care. As a result, the level of knowledge and attitude of skin health care among female high school students were found to be generally high. The level of knowledge and attitude regarding skin health care affected performance. Poor knowledge and attitudes regarding skin health care in high school are a negative influence on skin care habits in adulthood and health promotion. Therefore, the author considers that healthy skin care practices should be provided via systematic health education materials to cultivate accurate knowledge and attitudes in female high school students.
