A Study of Perception and Satisfaction of Volunteer Activities among College Women Majoring in Beauty

In this study, a questionnaire survey was conducted with college women majoring in beauty in Gyeonggi-do, and 278 copies were collected and used for analysis. The following results were obtained. In terms of interest in volunteer work by school year, 'freshmen' were the highest. In terms of interest in volunteer work as a hobby, a statistically significant difference was observed. In terms of experience in volunteer work by school year, 'juniors' were the highest with a statistically significant difference. In terms of a field of volunteer work, 'major-related field' was 36.1% while 63.9% wasn't related with students' majors. When asked about the motive for volunteer work, 'just wanted to experience volunteer work' received the most responses, followed by 'to add another line to my resume.' In other words, it has been confirmed that many college women majoring in beauty have participated in a volunteer program to get a job more easily in the future. When asked how often they participated in volunteer work, 'not regularly' had the most responses, followed by 'bimonthly.' When asked how long they provided volunteer service, 'less than one (1) month' was responded to most, followed by 'less than six (6) months.' In other words, most college women majoring in beauty quit their volunteer service in less than six (6) months. When asked if they were willing to continue their volunteer service, 49.5% responded 'YES.' In terms of satisfaction with volunteer activities, 'feeling of accomplishment and great experience' received many responses. Even though most respondents were aware that volunteer work is necessary, most of them quit their volunteer service within six (6) months. Therefore, it appears that it is necessary to build favorable conditions and develop a program to encourage them to continue their volunteer work.
